Janet uses net-format media to visualize something that would otherwise difficult to see: the wind dance can be visualized through the net; the subway running through the dry mist ect.
When we learn, information is encoded and flows into our brain. Our neural network might be a most complicated 'fish-net', continuously changes: dances, makes new connections, shakes, if you see another talk 'I am my connectome', you will know how our brain is like a net.
There is a big potential to use dynamic net format to animate some thinking processes. Learning is about attaching new ideas to the existing fabric/net in our brain. This is like a weaving process: use new threads or new segments to enrich, refine, or/and re-construct the the fabric/net of our brain.
In another Ted talk 'Metaphorically speaking', I think therefore I am is actually: I shake things up, therefore I am. From the neural networks perspective, this is to co-shake neurons storing both the sources and targets. From the semiotics perspective, this is to co-shake words/sentences representing the sources and targets.
It could be difficult to precisely locate and trace the neural activity, but it is possible to locate and trace sign activity with the aid of some externalized net model. I think of another Ted talk about discovering DNA: how chemical models made the difference in their discovery.
Janet, thank you so much for inspiring me! I believe that you and other artists might help learning scientists to figure out a breakthrough way to teach our kids on how to learn and think creatively. So that they can become happy and creative learners.
